Chapter 14. The Board Bucket CORE COMPETENCY #14 We believe that board members must sense God’s call to serve on the board of directors. We invest time in cultivating, recruiting, orienting and engaging board members in their strategic role as stewards of our organization. The first step in organizational sustainability is to inspire board members to be highly committed and generous partners in ministry. RESOURCES IN THE BOARD BUCKET - WORKSHEET #14.1: "Confidential Board Prospect List." Recruit board members with prayerful intentionality and board-approved criteria. Read Chapter 14 and then download this "Prospect Prayer List" as you "date" board prospects and bring them inside the circles of involvement (see page 194).
- BOARD RETREAT/BOARD TRAINING. Excellent boards have one thing in common: an annual retreat. If you need help in designing a one-day or 24-hour board retreat, contact John Pearson Associates, Inc. We conduct our Nonprofit Board Governance workshop (six hours, usually) quarterly and also customize retreats for the unique needs of your board.
- BOARD SELF-ASSESSMENTS/CEO ASSESSMENTS. What? Your board doesn't conduct an annual board self-assessment?
